About Us


Martin Place Chambers is a floor of leading barristers in Sydney. It is the only floor of barristers in NSW specialising in environmental, planning and property law. Chambers are located at 32nd floor, 52 Martin Place.

The chambers has 25 barristers who have varied experience, including particular expertise in matters relating to environmental, both civil and criminal, local government, planning and property law, and land acquisition compensation in NSW. The members provide advice and appear in many Courts and Tribunals for private, government and corporate clients. The chambers, headed by Andrew Pickles SC, has 9 senior counsel, 11 experienced senior juniors and 5 junior barristers and readers. Some members are also accredited mediators.

The clerk to chambers, Michele Kearns, has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the specialist practice areas in which the members of the floor practice. She is able to assist solicitors and clients identify barristers with suitable expertise in matters to meet the client's requirements. Some of our barristers are prepared to accept instructions direct from professional town planners and other experts on behalf of clients. All members accept direct briefs from in-house counsel. These inquiries should be directed to the clerk.
